Last Update : June 4, 2019 by April

One of the most frequently asked questions when it comes to dating and traveling is the following one:  should you date solo traveler?

If you search on Google, you’ll probably find lots of articles with the reasons why you should definitely date solo travelers and others on why you shouldn’t even try.

At the end of the day, let’s not forget that when it comes to dating and love, everything is based on personal experiences

However, with a little bit of common sense, it is possible to think ahead and decide if, in your present moment, dating a solo traveler would be a good move for you!

The pros of dating a solo traveler

  • They respect personal space and independence

Solo travelers tend to like their independence. In that sense, if you’re looking for a more dependent type of dating experience, then you probably shouldn’t date a solo traveler.

On the contrary, if you appreciate your personal space and your independence when dating, a solo traveler could be your perfect match!

  • They tend to be spontaneous & enjoy adventures

When you’re a solo traveler, you need to be able to be organized and spontaneous at the same time?

How does that work?

Well, when you’re constantly on the move, you need to get organized with your documents, your bookings, your calendar, etc.

However, when traveling things tend not to always go as planned, hence the importance of being able to be spontaneous and to enjoy spontaneity.

Dating a spontaneous person can be a really fun experience!  Forget perfectly planned evening, but instead, make the most of the present moment and allow yourself the freedom to see where it can lead you!

  • They are open-minded

It is quite hard to imagine a solo traveler not being open-minded. As we said before when traveling, things don’t always go as planned and it is really important to be able to adapt to new situations.

As such, solo travelers tend to be ok expanding their comfort zone, or any other words, being outside of their comfort zone.

It can be a very contagious feeling that will not only help you to grow as an individual, but it will also allow you to experience new things and different kind of dates that you would have probably never imagined if you’d have stick to your comfort zone.

The cons of dating a solo traveler

  • They are constantly moving (here and gone…)

Of course, the main negative aspect of dating a solo traveler is the fact that they might not stay for too long.

Sometimes it can be hard! You’ve been dating, everything seems to be amazingly well and suddenly your date announces you his/her depart. Ouch!

It is something to definitely take into consideration, however sometimes fully living a given moment is a hundred times better than securing a future without enjoying every single second.

  • They are not settled in the traditional way

You might think. Oh, that’s ok, I’m not that traditional myself!

The problem comes when your schedules don’t match. While a solo traveler can enjoy the day in a more flexible way, you might have to stick to the 9-5 office hours and consequently, you’re only free for evening dates.

Sometimes a solo traveler, because of their flexibility, can propose you different amazing date plan which, however, won’t fit with your schedule… and it can lead to frustrations.

Dating a solo traveler can be a great experience if you think you’re in the right frame of mind!
